Local schools receive Excellence in Performance for Teachers grant

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Some of Indiana’s top schools are getting a huge chunk of money.

The first ever Excellence in Performance for Teachers grant was handed out in Indy. It recognizes great teachers, by distributing $6 million among 28 schools.

Three of them were right here in Michiana: Bremen, Goshen and Oregon-Davis.

"Teachers who were already doing good work are now striving to do even better work and so we are so pleased to have the opportunity to recognize and reward those teachers,” said Superintendent of Noblesville Schools Steve Stephanoff.

The state said the grant money will also help schools recruit and keep excellent teachers.
