SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Mary Weisser, a social worker for the National Youth Advocate Program in South Bend, was honored Tuesday for the extraordinary difference she makes in her community.
With March being Social Worker Appreciation Month, representatives from Michiana Homes for Heroes surprised Weisser with a $100 gift card and a hero award plaque that commemorates her dedication to improving the lives of families around Michiana.
“Growing up the way I did, it was, it was difficult. And, had it not been for people that were in these positions, I wouldn't be here today,” said Weisser.
Weisser also shared a message to local social workers to continue making a difference the community and to do it with love.
