Lockdowns lifted for Brandywine Community Schools

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Brandywine Community Schools went on lockdown on Friday due to an off campus incident.

The school district was notified about a situation happening close to the schools on Friday afternoon and decided to go into a perimeter lockdown as a precaution.

After an update from the Berrien County Sheriff’s office, the middle school, high school, and Brandywine Elementary went off their lockdown.

Dismissal for students continued as normal.

Merritt Elementary's lockdown was lifted later in the afternoon and official dismissal was at 3:50 p.m.

According to a Facebook post, Brandywine Community Schools said that students and staff were never in danger.
