LoveWay holding 30th annual Ride-A-Thon fundraiser for those with disabilities

MIDDLEBURY, Ind. -- A local equestrian nonprofit will host its 30th annual Ride-A-Thon fundraiser on Saturday to benefit individuals with disabilities.

LoveWay Inc. provides horse-assisted services to those with disabilities and the fundraiser aims to raise enough to hand out 30 scholarships for Fall semester student participants and raise awareness for LoveWay's programs.

"Community members are encouraged to bring their horse and join the Ride-A-Thon festivities," organizers said. "The 30th annual Ride-A-Thon will lead off from LoveWay's picturesque grounds in Middlebury, where participants will have the opportunity to embark on a trail ride with their horse on the incredibly scenic Riegsecker property."

The event starts with breakfast and will conclude with lunch and a silent auction. Organizers say this year there is an opportunity for a chance to win a one-time breeding with Metallic Berry standing at Pine Meadow Equine.

“As we saddle up for our 30th annual Ride-A-Thon, the thrill of galloping towards our fundraising needs is matched only by the joy of seeing the transformative power of LoveWay’s equine assisted services in action,” said Shelley Becker, LoveWay’s Executive Director “Join us on this memorable trail ride to make an impact one hoofbeat at a time.”

Are you interested but don't have a horse or can't join the ride?

"LoveWay is still accepting Ride-A-Thon event sponsors and items for its on-site silent auction for guests that will take place instead of personal fundraising this year," organizers said. "LoveWay is also in need of volunteers to help with their Fall semester incoming students."

LoveWay Inc. has been serving the Elkhart County community for over 51 years, offering equine-assisted services that enhance physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

Gates, check-in, registration, breakfast and silent auction open at 8 a.m. and the trail opens 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Lunch will start at noon and the silent auction closes at 12:30 p.m.

Cost is $65 for ages 18 and older, $45 for ages 13-17, and $20 for those ages 12 and younger. Organizers say price includes entrance to the trail as well as breakfast and lunch from the Amish Church.

LoveWay is located at 54151 C.R. 33 in Middlebury. You can register online or call (574) 825-5666.
