Low water pressure after fire prompts boil water notice

Tuesday's massive stable fire may have affected the water supply for residents in the Edwardsburg area.

A boil order has been issued by the Edwardsburg Water Department.

If you live in the affected area, you should boil water before using it for drinking or cooking.

More samples are being tested and officials will know by 9 a.m. Thursday if the water is safe for drinking.

If the samples do not come back clean, they will have to collect more samples and conduct more tests.

The water superintendent delivered letters door-to-door overnight to alert 1,200 residents about the boil water notice.

One of the issues was the massive fire at Smithfield Stables that broke out around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. There were 14 fire departments on scene fighting the fire, which was too much too fast for the village.

The water tower was offline because of inspection.
