Lucky ticket buyer to score $350,000 home for $150

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A two-story home valued at $350,000 will soon be home to a lucky raffle ticket buyer for just $150 by May. The Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and the Women’s Care Center are kicking off the 21st Annual House Raffle.

The 2,400-square-foot home, located in Clay Township, boasts three bedrooms and a master suite, featuring a walk-in closet and attached bathroom with a two sinks and a garden tub, a spacious kitchen with quartz countertops, hardwood flooring, and stainless steel appliances, and a two-story great room with a fireplace.

Ann Rathburm, Chief Development Officer for the Foundation of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, said the home has come a long way since when she last visited the site.

“I was in the house when it was a more of a shell, when It was a little dirty, a little dusty. It is gorgeous. It is a beautiful, beautiful home,” said Rathburm.

The $150 ticket also gives buyers a chance to win over 40 other prizes, including new cars and thousands in cash, with the odds of winning a prize are 1 out of 94.

Rathburm said proceeds benefit two important local agencies that have big impacts in Michiana.

"They’re helping hundreds and hundreds of people in our community. It’s only our community, so it’s your neighbors, your friends. People who somehow find themselves with no insurance, and need healthcare desperately," said Rathburm. Organizers said people interested in purchasing a ticket, or “offer,” should head to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center as soon as possible, since they can run out within a week or less.

“Come quickly. Because every year we probably return thousands of dollars for people who didn’t quite buy their offer quick enough, and we have to you know, send their money back,” said Rathburm.

An “early bird” drawing is set for Monday, March 12th, with a raffle for $2,012 in cash and a chance to win the grand prize, which will be raffled off in May.
