SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Coming to the corner of Madison Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is the Madison Lifestyle District development including apartments, a hotel and parking garage. This will replace some of the parking lots outside of Beacon Memorial Hospital.
This project will help bridge the gaps between the hospital's campus and the rest of downtown. Beacon Medical Group, the City of South Bend and Great Lakes Capital have teamed up to create these spaces through phases. We can first expect the parking garage to be completed, then the next phases will follow.
Construction has been underway for two months after recently securing state funding and catching up on underground work after a harsh winter. While there is no set end date for this project the City of South Bend tells ABC57's Sidney Moore that they are confident the parking garage portion will be completed within the next year and the apartments could be finished as soon as 2028 or 2029.
