Major backup in westbound lanes of the Toll Road

The westbound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road in Porter County are closed near the 33 mile marker because of an accident.

According to Indiana State Police, a semi struck a vehicle and the vehicle struck an ISP trooper's patrol car that was parked in the center divider.

Five vehicles are involved in the accident.

The trooper was injured and taken to the hospital.

The accident has traffic backed up for several miles.
