Man accused of impersonating police officer

A 49-year-old man was arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer.

According to police reports, 49 year old Richard Krause was arrested for impersonating a cop and possession of stolen property. 

Thursday evening Krause was sitting in the parking lot of the Mishawaka Residence Inn, allegedly videotaping people.

When he was confronted by those people, he allegedly held up a police badge and claimed to work with the St. Joseph County Sheriffs department.

Police documents reveal that Krause use to be part of the St. Joseph Sheriff's horse posse which is a private entity. 

He was let go from that detail about a year and a half ago, after it was alleged he was stalking women and girls at the county jail while in uniform. 

He is in the St. Joseph county jail without bond waiting on a court date.
