Man accused of inappropriately touching underage victim after warning her about boys
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A man was arrested for child molesting after a victim reported he had inappropriately touched her on two occasions, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Jose Medrano was arrested on two counts of child molesting where the victim is under the age of 14.
On March 7, the South Bend Police Department Special Victims Unit was assigned to investigate a report involving Medrano and the victim.
According to the victim, Medrano had inappropriately grabbed her twice in December 2022.
The first time Medrano allegedly touched the victim, he was talking to her about how she needed to be careful with boys, according to reports.
When Medrano touched her inappropriately, the victim said it made her feel uncomfortable, reports said.
Medrano allegedly touched her inappropriately on a second occasion that same month.
When investigators spoke with Medrano, he said he often gives hugs and has had conversations with the victim before, reports state.
A surety bond was posted on Medrano's behalf on Monday.
His initial hearing is set for April 10.
