Man accused of jumping in front of cars, assaulting man on road

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – A man was arrested on assault charges after allegedly jumping in front of oncoming traffic and assaulting a man in Sherman Township, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 5:44 p.m. on Monday, deputies were called to the area of Balk Road and Sherman Mills Road following a number of 911 calls reporting a man that was walking in the road yelling at oncoming traffic and jumping in front of cars.

Before deputies got to the scene, another 911 call came in saying a man had assaulted another man who had stopped to talk to the alleged suspect, reports said.

When deputies arrived, they met with a 31-year-old man from the Detroit area and took him into custody without issue.

He was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on assault charges.
