Man accused of shooting driver during road rage incident

A Detroit man was arrested after shooting at a driver during a road rage incident in New Buffalo Township Tuesday afternoon, according to the Chikaming Township Police Department.

Demarkio Hubbard was preliminarily charged with assault with intent to commit murder.

At 4:18 p.m., officers responded to a shooting on Union Pier Road near the Union Pier eastbound I-94 exit.

According to reports, the incident started in the eastbound lanes of I-94 before exiting at Union Pier.

Hubbard’s vehicle was in front of the victim’s vehicle as the two drove onto Union Pier, where Hubbard stopped, got out of the vehicle and fired several rounds at the other driver, reports said.

At least one bullet hit the victim’s shoulder.

After the shooting, police were told Hubbard ran from the scene.

The victim is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
