Man accused of striking, strangling girlfriend
A man was arrested after allegedly hitting his girlfriend and trying to strangle her, according to court records.
On October 26, South Bend Police responded to a home for reports of a domestic battery.
When they arrived, they spoke with the victim who was upset and crying.
She said her boyfriend, Armani Thomas, became angry when she began talking about her feelings. When she told him to leave, he struck her in the face, according to the probable cause affidavit.
He also grabbed her by the throat and cut off her airway to the point she nearly lost consciousness, reports said.
Thomas then jumped out of the window when police were called, reports said.
Officers noticed the woman's lip was cut and was bleeding, reports said.
Thomas was located a short time later.
Thomas was on probation for two convictions, armed robbery and battery, at the time of the incident, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Thomas has been charged with strangulation and domestic battery.
