Man arrested for alleged machine gun possession in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A 21-year-old was arrested for allegedly being in possession of a machine gun, according to the South Bend Police Department.
Just before 6 a.m. on Thursday, officers were called to the 400 block of Laurel St. for a report of an unwanted party.
At the scene, police found a man swinging an item and shattering a vehicle's windows, reports said.
The man, later identified as 21-year-old Tavaryous Kinds, was detained and admitted he was smashing the windows with a tire iron, police said.
During the investigation, officers found suspected marijuana and a firearm with a switch, according to reports. The handgun was reported stolen out of another county, police said.
Kinds was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on the charges of possession of a machine gun and criminal mischief.
