LA PORTE, Ind. -- A man was arrested after police found an explosive device in his home following the execution of a search warrant, according to La Porte Police.
Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, the La Porte Police Department learned there was a subject possibly in possession of explosive material at a residence in the 700 block of F. Street.
After conducting an investigation, police obtained a search warrant for the home.
La Porte Police and sheriff's department's Emergency Response Team secured the home and took 44-year-old Eric Weiler into custody.
The Porter County Bomb Squad conducted a search of the residence and located a destructive/explosive device. It was secured and later safely disposed of by the bomb squad.
Weiler has been preliminarily charged with attempted placement of a destructive device or explosive.
