Man arrested for public indecency at downtown South Bend restaurant

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A man was arrested for allegedly touching himself inappropriately and disturbing customers at a restaurant in downtown South Bend, according to the South Bend Police Department.

Antone Mayfield, 28, was arrested on two counts of public indecency.

On Friday, officers were called to the restaurant along South Michigan Street for a report of a man touching himself at the establishment.

According to restaurant staff, the man, later identified as Mayfield, was disturbing both customers and staff.

They repeatedly asked Mayfield to leave the restaurant but he allegedly refused.

While waiting for police, security tried to shield Mayfield from the view of customers, reports said.

When officers approached Mayfield, his pants were at his ankles and he was still touching himself, according to reports.

Mayfield has a prior conviction for public indecency from 2016.

His initial hearing is set for March 29.
