Man arrested in connection to death of 2-year-old toddler from Plymouth

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -

A man has been arrested in connection to the death of a Michiana toddler.

Police say Shane Weedling was arrested on Friday night and charged with neglect of a dependent related to the death of 2-year-old Serenity Wilson.

The Plymouth Police Department responded to a report of suspicious injuries Friday afternoon at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Wilson had been brought to the emergency room by her mother and was unconscious with a serious head injury.

Police say their investigation revealed that the head injury occurred Friday morning.

They say older injuries were also present.

Wilson was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne where she was put on life support.

Police say Wilson died at the hospital Saturday night.

Plymouth Police located Weedling at his residence just before 7 p.m. on Friday.

He was interviewed by police and arrested. He is being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Plymouth Police are continuing to investigate.
