Man arrested in connection with string of equipment thefts across three Michiana counties

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A man accused of stealing high-dollar equipment in three counties was arrested on December 20 for the crimes.

Marshall County sergeants arrested Eric Barnard on outstanding felony warrants in connection with a string of thefts in Elkhart, St. Joseph and Marshall counties between late August and late October. He’s being held on a $10,000 cash bond for nine counts of theft.

Barnard, along with three others, is accused of stealing at least two trailers and an excavator out of Marshall County. Barnard then allegedly sold the excavator to a man in South Bend.

His initial hearing was scheduled for Wednesday.
