Man arrested on several charges following routine traffic stop
LAKE COUNTY, Ind. – A Gary man was arrested on six different charges Saturday night after being pulled over faulty headlights.
Indiana State Police say a trooper was sitting in his cruiser on the Indiana Toll Road, about one mile east of the Indiana-Illinois state line, when he spotted a 2000 GMV Yukon with “improper headlights.”
Once running the vehicle’s plate, the trooper discovered the registered owner had a suspended driving status and an active arrest warrant.
According to ISP, the trooper pulled over the vehicle and noticed an open alcoholic container in the driver’s side cup holder.
The driver, 54-year-old Luis Villasenor, was arrested and allegedly found to be in possession of hypodermic needles and cocaine.
He was booked in the Lake County Jail on charges of possession of cocaine, unlawful possession of hypodermic needles, possession of paraphernalia, driving while suspended prior, operator never licensed, and failure to appear.
