Man charged with 11 felony counts of Child Exploitation following investigation
Rashawn Moffitt SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Court documents from St. Joseph County reveal a 39-year-old man has been charged with several felony counts of Child Exploitation following an investigation by the South Bend Police Department.
The suspect, identified as Rashawn Moffitt, has been charged with 11 counts of Child Exploitation-Manage, produce, sponsor, present, exhibit, photo, film, video, Level 5 Felonies, and one count of Invasion of Privacy-Def. violates an order issued, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Moffitt's initial hearing is set for Jan. 26.
According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, the SBPD was investigating alleged child exploitation, child pornography, and invasion of privacy that occurred between Nov. 24 and Dec. 24, 2025.
Documents state detectives were granted a search warrant for Moffitt's cell phone on Dec. 26, 2025.
The St. Joseph County Cyber Crimes Unit then completed a full extraction of the phone.
Detectives say after reviewing the files, several media items were found appearing to show an underage girl engaging in sexual conduct.
Police say Moffitt can be seen engaging in sexual conduct with the victim.
The data shows the media was created by Moffitt's phone.
Detectives say based on the angles in some of the videos, it appears Moffitt is the one holding the recording device, while others appear to show the device set up where Moffit is also seen.
Police say there doesn't appear to be anyone else in the room besides Moffitt and the victim.
Documents state the videos were dated to 11 different days within the above-mentioned timeline.
Police also found Moffitt had a No Contact Order in place against him issued on Nov. 12, 2025. Moffitt was and is prohibited from having contact with the victim.
