Man charged with child solicitation for trying to meet up with 13-year-old

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – A man was arrested for allegedly trying to meet with a 13-year-old boy for sexual purposes, according to court records.

On January 28, Mishawaka Police were contacted by a nonprofit organization that attempts to catch and expose online predators.

Glen Buckhout communicated with their decoy, who was posing as a 13-year-old boy, via the Grindr app, reports said.

Buckhout arranged to meet with the decoy at a store on Grape Road, reports said.

When asked what he wanted to do at the store, Buckhout said he wanted the decoy to perform a sex act in the restroom, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Buckhout provided a photo of himself and described the clothing he was wearing for the meet, reports said.

At the store, a member of the nonprofit confronted Buckhout at the store. Buckhout denied trying to meet with a 13-year-old and left the store, according to the probable cause affidavit.

On May 11, a member of the Special Victim's Unit spoke with Buckhout. He allegedly admitted to attempting to meet with a 13-year-old boy for sexual purposes, reports said.

He said it was his first time trying to meet with a boy, "Again it was just texting back and forth. No harm no foul," according to the probable cause affidavit.

Buckhout has been charged with one count of child solicitation.

UPDATE: In December 2022, Buckhout pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement. Buckhout was sentenced to four years with two years suspended. He was also given two years' probation.
