UPDATE: Man found guilty on two murder charges sentenced to 80 years
MAY 9, 2025 UPDATE: On April 4 of this year. 27-year-old Reontre Lawrence, of South Bend, was found guilty of murder, reckless homicide, and a firearm enhancement, relating to the October 19, 2023, deaths of 20-year-old Amarion Kirk, and 22-year-old Jasani Taylor.
On May 9, Lawrence was sentenced to a total of 80 years executed time in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
He received the following sentences:
- Count I: Reckless Homicide, five years
- Count II: Murder, 55 years
- Firearm Enhancement, 20 years
The counts are to run consecutively.
The sentencing range for a level 5 felony is one to six years, the sentencing range for murder is 45 to 65 years, and the sentencing range for a Firearm Enhancement is five to 20 years.

Reontre Lawrence, 26, is currently being held on no bond at the St. Joseph County Jail.
He was arraigned Wednesday afternoon.
On October 19, police were called out to the hotel for a report of a shooting in the parking lot.
There, they found 20-year-old Amarion Kirk and 22-year-old Jasani Taylor dead outside a vehicle.
