Man fires gun inside vehicle, injuring driver

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. --A 36-year-old man was injured when another man fired a shot inside his vehicle, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.  

Monday night around 11:15 p.m., Carlos Villareal Perez fired a gun inside a vehicle that was parked at a residence on Francis Avenue, deputies said.

The gunshot struck the driver, Jose Reyes, in the knee.

Reyes was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Villareal Perez was taken into custody on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
