Man found in Elkhart with gunshot wound expected to be okay

ELKHART, Ind. – Elkhart Police said the 21-year-old man found bleeding from a gunshot wound in the stomach is expected to be okay.

Officers were called out to the 700 block of Markle Avenue, near Lusher Avenue, in response to a shooting around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
Lt. Laura Koch told ABC 57 the injury is not life threatening. The victim was talking to and communicating with officers at Elkhart General Hospital.
Officers said the man was not able to give a clear description about what happened or where in what neighborhood he was shot. However, Koch said the man was not shot on Markle Avenue.
Koch said police did not have any suspects as of Wednesday morning.
The shooting remains under investigation.
