Man invites three people into home, two of them accused of stealing vehicle
ELKHART, Ind. – A man who invited three people into his home discovered that two of them allegedly stole his sister’s vehicle, the Elkhart Police Department reported.
At 10:42 a.m. on May 30, an officer went to the police department for a theft of a vehicle report.
Dispatch said an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of West High Street earlier that morning for the same call.
The victim told police that at 2 a.m., he had invited three people into his home.
The victim went into another room and when he came back, two of the three people had left.
Soon, he discovered that his sister’s Mitsubishi Galant was missing and the vehicle was reported as stolen.
On June 6 at 10:12 a.m., an officer went to the area of Prairie and Middlebury Streets for a stolen vehicle alert.
When the officer arrived, he found the Galant backed up to a dumpster in the 700 block of Monroe Street.
A passenger in the Galant, identified as 37-year-old Donald Adkins of Elkhart, was arrested on an unrelated warrant.
The driver of the Galant, identified as 32-year-old Veronica Boggs of South Bend, was arrested for auto theft and on outstanding, unrelated warrants.
