Man killed in farming accident

A man was killed Wednesday when he was accidentally pulled into a piece of farming equipment, according to Michigan State Police.

Around 7:20 p.m., first responders were called to the 9400 block of Territorial Road in Bainbridge Township.

When they arrived, they located the body of 62-year-old Rafael Alonzo Zarate of Watervliet.

Investigators say Zarate was chopping the remaining corn stubble with a tractor pulling a brush hog.

Investigators believe Zarate got off the tractor and his clothing became wrapped up in the equipment, pulling him into it.

Zarate suffered fatal injuries.

Zarate was alone at the time of the accident, so it is unknown approximately what time the accident occurred.
