Man pleads guilty in fatal shooting at 331 Inn

A man accused of fatally shooting a fellow bar patron following a fight has pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

Richard Bonnett, 64, pleaded guilty to reckless homicide Monday.

Bonnett shot and killed 46-year-old Roberto Teneria at the 331 Inn on September 4.

According to the investigation, around closing time, Bonnett and Teneria were the only ones left in the bar.

Bonnett told Teneria to leave. When he didn't leave, Bonnett punched him, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The two men then began rolling around on the floor fighting, according to the bartender.

The bartender told investigators it appeared Bonnett was winning, but at some point Teneria got the upper hand and began beating Bonnett.

The bartender said the two eventually stopped fighting and Teneria began walking towards the door, turned around and told Bonnett he had to leave, according to the probable cause affidavit.

At that point, according to the bartender, Bonnett pulled out a handgun and shot Teneria twice, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Bonnett will be sentenced December 23.
