SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office announced on Wednesday following a day and a half jury trial, regarding the Jan. 23, 2023, shooting death of Justin Stewart in South Bend, Christopher Brown pleaded guilty to Count II: Conspiracy to Commit Murder, a Level 1 Felony.

Count I: Murder will be dismissed as part of that plea agreement.

Officials say the plea agreement was reached after consultation with the Stewart's family and calls for a fully executed sentence of 25 years, to be served in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Brown's formal sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 2.

The sentencing range for a Level 1 Felony is 20 to 40 years.
