ELKHART, Ind. – A man said he was run over by a vehicle on Thursday while he was running away from a fight, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 3:40 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Prairie Street for a report of a man who had been run over by a vehicle.

Officers arrived and found the victim lying inside the doorway of a residence.

He was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The victim told police he was in a parking lot with three unknown men when a fight began and a man pulled a gun on him.

The victim tried to run away but someone got in a black car and ran him over, according to reports.

This is an ongoing investigation.
