Man shot by Michigan City police appears in court

LAPORTE CO., Ind. -- Daniel Sherrod appeared in court on Thursday morning in LaPorte County.
The Michigan City man was shot by an officer in late June.
A judge granted his request for a speedy trial.
He's accused of hopping out of a car during a traffic stop, running from police, and getting into an altercation with an officer.
Sherrod's trial is set for August 20.
He'll be back in court on July 19 for his pre-trial.
