Benton Harbor man shot in the leg by unknown suspects

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.— A 46-year-old man was shot by unknown suspects near Blossom Acres in Benton Township on April 7, according to the Benton Charter Township Police Department.

On April 7 around 9:21 p.m., officers with the Benton Charter Township Police Department were sent to the 1200 block of Blossom Lane regarding a gunshot victim.

At the scene, officers found a 46-year-old male victim from Benton Harbor with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the right shin and ankle.

The victim told police that he was walking on Highland near Plum Court when a blue four-door Ford sedan drove past him, turned around, and through an open window, an unknown person brandished a handgun.

According to reports, the suspect then fired the gun one time, grazing the victim’s right shin area and right ankle. The bullet exited the victim’s shoe.

The suspect vehicle left the area and the victim sought medical attention and police assistance. 

Police said the suspects are described as unknown black males.
