Man shot during fight on Morton Avenue

Elkhart Police are investigating a shooting that happened Monday around 10:30 a.m. in the area of Morton and East Lusher avenues.

Police were called to the area after reports of gunfire in the area.

When police arrived they located a window at 806 E. Lusher that had been struck by a bullet.

Police also received a call from Elkhart General Hospital advising a gunshot victim had just arrived to their facility.

The victim, a 21-year-old man,  told police he was outside his home on Morton Avenue when he was approached by two black males. There was an argument which led to a fight.

During the fight, one of the two men shot the victim, police said.

One of the bullets struck the victim. Another struck a neighboring residence.

Family members took the victim to the hospital.

He is being treated for serious injuries.
