Man's arm severed in farming accident

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A 59-year-old Claypool man remains hospitalized after his arm was amputated in a farming accident.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and paramedics were called to 7710 South County Road 300 East around 1:18 p.m. for a farming accident.

According to investigators, 59-year-old David Linn was working on his tractor and when he started it, it lunged forward, hit a barn and truck, and severed Linn's arm above the elbow.

Linn's son rushed to the scene and immediately applied a tourniquet, likely saving his father's life.

Linn was flown by Lutheran Air Helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition due to blood loss.

As of Tuesday morning, Linn was still listed in critical condition.
