Manti Teo discusses upcoming game

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The eyes of the nation will be turned to Norman, Oklahoma this weekend when No. 5 Notre Dame takes on No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners. Wednesday, linebacker and Heisman candidate Manti Te’o previewed the matchup in a press conference.

Despite the hype surrounding Saturday’s game, the Fighting Irish are taking it one step at a time and trying to take advantage of every minute of preparation.

"We're going to prepare how we've always been preparing and we're not going to do anything different,” said Manti Te’o.

To call Saturday's game big might be an understatement.

Two top 10 teams will be going head to head to prove they deserve to stay at the top

"We approach every game that way and we've come a long way and I think at this point every game is a signature game,” said Te’o.

The Sooners are one of the toughest teams Notre Dame will face this season.

But the Irish aren't even thinking about Saturday yet.

"Today is Wednesday, it's working on Wednesday and focusing on getting better today and then we'll focus on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,” said Te’o.

The team may be avoiding the big picture perspective, but that doesn't mean the guys aren't getting a bit excited.

"We haven't really played in a hostile environment since Michigan State. So we're really excited to be going over there and playing a good game against a good football team and we are all excited,” said Te’o.

Kickoff is on Saturday at 8.

ABC57 will have full live coverage of the game and all the events in Norman, Oklahoma.
