Map programs haven't updated new US 31 in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The new US31 has been open for a week and it could cause some confusion for people coming into South Bend for the Notre Dame game. One of the popular phone apps, Google Maps, hasn't updated their maps to reflect the new route.



Jean Dodds, a nurse at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, said something similar happened when the center moved from South Bend to Mishawaka.



"People came to find the hospital, they were following Google Maps, and we weren't yet on the map and so everybody was getting lost," said Dodds.



Google issued this statement:



The various types of data found in Google Maps come from a wide range of sources. While we regularly update the map, the amount of time it takes to update varies. We encourage users to let us know when something in their neighborhood has changed by using our Report a Problem tool.



The default map program on iPhone 5 hasn't updated US31's new route either.
