Mayor Buttigieg sets friendly wager on ND bowl game

Ahead of that big bowl match-up between Notre Dame and Rutgers, a friendly wager has been placed between the Mayors of the two hometowns.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and the Mayor of Piscataway, New Jersey, where Rutgers is located, decided to place the pride of their cities on the line.

If Notre Dame wins the mayor gets some Italian food from New Jersey and if Rutgers wins Mayor Pete has to send off some South Bend chocolate.

"It's fun to put ourselves on the line a little bit. Leaders make themselves vulnerable sometimes in the spirit of the city, and so it seemed like a fun thing to add in," said Mayor Buttigieg.

Mayor Buttigieg also went on to say that he believes sports bring people together so a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone.
