Meet Elkhart's mayoral candidates on April 8

The League of Women Voters Elkhart County and the American Democracy Project of Indiana University South Bend will be holding a candidate forum with the Democratic candidates for Elkhart mayor.

The forum will be held April 8, the first day of early voting. Election Day is May 7.

The forums will be moderated by Dr. Elizabeth Bennion, a professor of political science and the founding director of the American Democracy Project at IUSB.

In March, the organizations held Meet the Candidates forums for all candidates and city council candidates. Full list of candidates

“These forums will allow voters to compare candidates side-by-side, and receive information they need to be an informed electorate for this primary,” Bennion said in a press release. “I’m pleased to be able to help facilitate this process.”

“The outcome of these races will directly impact the community in critical ways,” Janet Evanega, board member of the League of Women Voters – Elkhart County, said in a press release. “We are excited that we are able to offer, in a bipartisan way, events that both increase public understanding of these candidates, as well as issues that are critical to our communities.”
