SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Members of the St. Joseph County Police force were freezin’ for a reason at the third annual Michiana Polar Plunge.

The St. Joseph County Police force and jail team participated in the event Saturday morning at Four Winds Field.

Approximately $865 was raised for the Special Olympics, according to a post from the South Bend Police Department.

The money raised will benefit not-for-profit organization, Special Olympics Indiana.

The goal of Special Olympics Indiana is to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through year-round programs, sports trainings and athletic competitions.
