SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- On Wednesday, Memorial Hospital held an event where the public could test one of their surgical robots. The purpose of the event was to give people a better understanding of some the equipment surgeons use in the operating room.
The robot was on display between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and anyone could use the robot.
Officials say that while the robots make surgeries more expensive, they also make procedures safer by reducing the chances of infection and limiting doctor fatigue.
Memorial says the robot is mainly used for hernias but the hospital is exploring expanding that use.
