Mercedes Lain’s parents accept plea agreements

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The parents of 11-month-old Mercedes Lain have accepted plea agreements, according to court records.

The court was notified Tiffany Coburn accepted a plea agreement during a status conference Thursday.

Kenneth Lain’s plea agreement was filed on January 14 and a hearing was held Thursday to enter the agreement.

Coburn will have a hearing on February 25 regarding her plea agreement.

Coburn and Lain were each charged with one count of neglect of a dependent after Mercedes’ body was found in August 2021.

Justin Miller pleaded guilty to Mercedes’ murder and was sentenced to 65 years in prison earlier this week.
