BENTHON HARBOR, Mich. -- If you’re 18 or older, live in the 49022 zip code, have a high school diploma or GED and a clean criminal background, Michigan Works! can help you become a community health worker!
It’s offering a 12-week training program, best suited for someone who’s interested in and has time to pursue a new career path with a focus on behavioral health.
A community health worker is someone who’s educated about the healthcare system. Your goal should be to improve the overall health of the community, making sure people are aware of what services are available for them.
The behavioral health certification focuses on a certain population: those suffering from things like mental illness, addiction or depression.
The trained individual would work with those people to make sure they’re getting the help that they need.
Michigan Works! is actually holding 2 information sessions tomorrow for those interested in learning more about this free opportunity!
Both will take place at Michigan Works! on Main Street in Benton Harbor. The first is from 10-11AM and the second is from 2-3PM. You can learn more about the program and get your questions answered!
You can visit the Michigan Works! website for more information.
