Miami Ribbonwork Program hosted by Elkhart County Historical Museum

ELKHART, Ind. -- "Myaamia Ribbon work: Picking up the Threads", a program focused on a traditional Native American art form, will be offered by the Elkhart County Historical Museum at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 22.
This event is free to attend, and registration will not be required.
A presentation on the cultural and historical significance of ribbon work will be given by Claudia Hedeen, Cultural Education and Wellness Coordinator for the Miami Tribe.
“Miami women have practiced this art for centuries, including here in Elkhart County. It’s an important part of our area’s history that we’re honored to share with the public.” said the Museum’s Curator of Education, Jenifer Blouin Policelli.
Attendees have the opportunity to create their own ribbon work bookmark craft to take home.
This program is presented in conjunction with the Women Artists: Works in the Collection exhibit.
