Michiana Area Council of Governments looking for community input on CONNECT transit plan draft

The Michiana Area Council of Governments and the South Bend Transportation Corporation are looking for community comment on the new CONNECT Transit plan draft.

Both organizations will be hosting a series of open houses for the public to help decide if the plan's draft recommendations will make transit more useful.

The plan in its current form suggests route and schedule changes that would prioritize ridership and coverage to key destinations overtime.

Community members will have the chance to compare maps and view how proposed changes will affect jobs, health care services, education, shopping, neighboring communities and entertainment.

Four open houses will take place over the course of four days, starting Monday.

The Mishawaka open house will be held on Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Mishawaka Penn-Harris Public Library.

South Bend's open house will take place at the St. Joe County Public Library's Community Learning Center on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Elkhart Public Library will host an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The final open house will be held on Thursday at the Goshen Public Library Auditorium from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A feedback and response survey is available online here and will be open until Feb. 7.

Questions can be emailed to [email protected].
