Michiana celebrates Independence Day

People all across Michiana came out on Saturday to celebrate Independence Day.

The morning got started with the first annual St. Joseph County 4-H Fair Parade: A Salute to South Bend’s 150th celebration in downtown South Bend.

The parade kicked off at 9:30 a.m. with Joyce Newton as the Grand Marshall. Newton is President of Hoosier Racing Tire.

Organizers of the fair parade hope to make the parade an annual event as part of the 4-H fair.

There were about 100 parade float entries that ranged from dancers to Corvette's carrying beauty queens.

There will be various firework shows Saturday evening.
