Michiana hosts third annual "Military Stand Down"

Michiana is saying “Thank You” to veterans. The community is hosting an event today that gives veterans in need a second chance.

The event is called ‘Michiana Military Stand Down’ and because military veterans have faced so much in their lifetime, this event helps them get back on their feet

All veterans, including homeless and anyone returning from service are welcome.

There will be eleven employers on site to give veterans job opportunities. There will also be free services like haircuts, flu shots, mental health support, housing assistance and health screenings.

A free lunch will be at the event and donations of food, clothing and personal hygiene items will be available. The event will begin with remarks from Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Nearly fifty organizations are coming together to make the event happen.

The event starts at 10 A.M. and goes until 2 P.M. at Four Winds Field in South Bend.
