NOW: Michiana pitches in to help with Hurricane Ian recovery

GOSHEN, Ind. -- As the world watches Florida go through the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, you may be wondering how you can make a difference from Michiana.

A local company is hosting a supply drive to provide goods to those in Florida who may not have access to it right now.

Viewrail specializes in modern stairs and railing, but today its specialty is what employees are referring to as ‘Stuff a Truck’.

Viewrail has warehouses all across the United States, one of which is in Punta Gorda, Florida, where the effects of Hurricane Ian are really being felt.

Seeing the pictures of the damage to their warehouse made employees want to help not only their fellow Viewrail family in Florida, but the town of Punta Gorda as a whole.

With the donation of a semi-truck from Penske and the generosity of community members and employees, Viewrail plans to ship 24 pallets tonight.

Those pallets will be filled with essential supplies like food, towels, baby necessities like diapers and formula, first aid supplies, water and more.

Donations are being accepted at 1010 Eisenhower Drive in Goshen until 8pm tonight.  All you have to do is show up and Viewrail employees will unload your car and sort the items out.

Once donations are done, the semi-truck will be loaded before heading to Punta Gorda tonight.

If you have items you would like to donate that aren’t expired and won’t perish during the trip from Goshen to Florida, you can drop them off here at 1010 Eisenhower Drive in Goshen until 8pm tonight.

Any items that don’t make it on this trip will be loaded onto a second truck that will head to Florida on Sunday.
