SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- As President-elect Joe Biden became President Biden on Wednesday people across Michiana were glued to their screens watching it all unfold. Some are even feeling optimistic about the incoming Biden Administration.
"I think it’s very good," said Isabel Gonzalez, who lives in South Bend. "He’s going to bring the country together with the concerns that we have nationally."
Gonzalez says she's spent much of the past 48 hours taking in the sights and sounds of Biden's inauguration.
"I started yesterday [with the "Shine a Light" ceremony] and continued to watch today," said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez also says she's been especially moved by the inauguration of the first Black, South Asian woman as Vice President in Kamala Harris.
"Having a woman as Vice President, I can remember working the polls with my mother when I was young and this brought a tear and all the memories," said Gonzalez, "It’s going to tell little girls they can do anything."
