Indiana Congressman, Rudy Yakym, presented local Vietnam war veteran, Allen Reed, with his second Purple Heart on Friday.
Allen Reed served in the Marine Corps in 1967 and was shot while serving in Vietnam.
After healing, he suited back up and returned to the battlefield where he was injured again, earning him two Purple Hearts.
However, his hard-fought awards were later stolen.
Late Congresswoman, Jackie Walorski, helped Reed get his first Purple Heart back, and today, Congressman Rudy Yakym finished her work by helping him get the second one back as well.
Reed was also awarded a gold star, signifying he's received two Purple Hearts.
Reed says he plans to wear them twice a year, Friday for the Marine Corps' birthday, and Saturday, to commemorate Veterans' Day.
