LANSING -- Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is launching an investigation into an alleged swatting incident against former transportation secretary and South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg.

The alleged incident happened back in June. Buttigieg, a Michigan resident, claimed in a blog post that Child Protective Services officers arrived at his home. He said he was told by the officers that allegations were made against him concerning his and Chasten Buttigieg's four-year-old twins. Buttigieg said that the allegations were found unsubstantiated after interviews.

A CPS officer reportedly told Buttigieg that the call was made by a woman in Alabama and appeared to be politically motivated.

No specific suspect has been identified or charged.
