Michigan City man shot by police in stable condition

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- A Michigan City man shot by police is said to be in better condition now.

The family of 20-year-old Daniel Sherrod said he was up, walking and talking, on Friday at Memorial Hospital. He is now in stable condition.

Sherrod was shot by a trooper on Wednesday when they said he took off from a traffic stop and went for the trooper's gun.

The trooper is on paid leave right now, pending the ongoing investigation by Indiana State Police.
